Senior Engineer - Research and Development

Location: AB

We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer - Research and Development to join our rapidly growing Engineering team. This role will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering and innovative ideas for leading-edge fracturing equipment. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to advance their career with a fast-growing company.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conceptual and detailed design of leading-edge fracturing equipment;

  • Provide quality 3D modeling and 2D drawings structured with manufacturing BOMs;

  • Project dedication will be research and development, with some additional sustaining engineering work;

  • Participate in-shop and field-testing for engineering projects;

  • Research, evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance the company’s product lines;

  • Evaluation of third-party detailed design, manufacturing, assembly and testing of various equipment.   

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the application of mechanical engineering principles;

  • Skilled in the use of SolidWorks, FEA, and Microsoft Office software;

  • Solid understanding of industry materials and manufacturing methods;

  • Experience with flow modelling (CFD) software would be a significant asset to this position.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a high degree for attention to detail.

Experience and Education:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, currently registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta;

  • Must have 10+ years of relevant engineering and design with downhole tools and drilling industry equipment;

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, as well as knowledge of associated manufacturers and equipment suppliers will be considered a significant asset.·

Downhole Tool Field Hand

Location: AB, SK and MB

Kobold is a global provider of advanced well completion technologies and services for the Oil and Gas industry. We are currently looking for Downhole Tool Field Hands to join our rapidly growing Operations team. This role will be responsible for running downhole frac tools on Coil-Tubing, Service Rigs and Drilling Rigs in areas where Kobold operates. This position will also ensure the quality of the services provided meet company and client expectations, as well as adhere to company policies and procedures. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitions and energetic individual looking for a career with a fast-growing company.

 Core Responsibilities:

  • Providing field services related to Kobold’s downhole completions tools

    • Job logistics including transporting and towing tool trailers from job locations.

    • Assembly of tooling and running equipment.

    • Operations problem solving.

    • Tooling configuration to client specifications.

  • Follow field operations and safety practices at all times.

  • Provide continuous feedback to the office.

  • Must be able to work long hours and away from home.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word and Outlook).

  • High level of professionalism.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and communication skills.

  • Understands downhole tool operations.

  • Previous experience with coil-tubing, service rigs or frac supervision would be an asset.

  • Must own a minimum of 3/4-ton truck that can be used to pull work trailers (proof of insurance is required).

  • Clean drivers record.

 Training and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years downhole tool experience.

  • Minimum 5 years frac, coil-tubing or wireline experience.

  • Valid WHMIS, H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid certificates.
